Dear Students,

Wow. We are amazed by your courage, strength, openness to new experience, and commitment to making this whole college-in-a-pandemic thing work.

Whether you are an incoming first year student who did not exactly spend the last couple of years anticipating a college experience that would kick off with three days of quarantine, a sophomore who still feels disoriented and weird about being at home when you had expected to be on campus, a junior grieving the study abroad program that won't happen this fall, or a senior feeling some anxiety about what graduating will be like in the world as it now is; whether you are moving onto campus this weekend and missing your friends who will be studying remotely, or studying remotely and missing your friends who will be on campus, you are ALL treasured members of this community and you are ALL making college happen for yourselves, despite the enormous challenges involved.

So like we were saying: wow. Wow! We think you're terrific. Because nothing is the way it's supposed to be. Nothing has been for awhile now.

You're doing it anyway.

It takes guts, it takes courage. And you're not alone. It might not always be pretty, and there might be some lonely moments, but you're all doing this together, and we are here to support you.

If you'd like to talk to one of us, just call the front desk of the Student Wellness Center at 717-544-9051. If you are already connected to a counselor, you can also email them directly to schedule an appointment. We will continue to offer on-call counseling support when our offices are closed; simply call the front desk and wait to be connected.

All appointments will be conducted this semester via telemedicine. But no screen could lessen the connection and admiration we feel towards all of you!

Welcome! Don't hesitate to reach out. We're cheering you on as you begin this crazy semester, and looking forward to getting to know you better.

Warmly,
Lauren, Susan, Katharina, Meagan, Gene, Kelly and Alexis
